Lazy Scranton: About Me

I grew up near Scranton, Pennsylvania. That’s right, the home of Poor Richards, the landscape of Schrute Farms, and backdrop to the greatest love story ever told. I’m talking about Phyllis and Bob, not Jim and Pam, Holly and Michael, Angela and Dwight, or even Ryan and himself. I mean, Bob paid $1,000 to get a hug from his wife. If that’s not love, then I don’t want it.

“Lazy Scranton” wasn’t just a video to welcome the Stanford team, it’s a way of life. Who better to host a website dedicated to the Office than me, one who fully understands the mindset only growing up in a small suburb can provide?  I have since moved to NYC. But there isn’t a “fun run” mile traveled that can erase my memories rooted deeper than a beet at Schrute Farms. I’m certain beet wine is a thing. And I bet it’s best served around a bonfire, in the backwoods of farmland, enjoyed by people who silently understand that our friendships are going to last a lifetime. Don’t you wish there was a way to know you’re in “the good old days”, before you’ve actually left them? So does Andy Bernard. And so do I.

I hope to attract Scrantonicity band members far and wide. I am referring to you, dear reader. I will post Office related things every Monday such as memes, recipes, my fine writing (as demonstrated here), and share the Finer Things being created by Scrantonites everywhere. As you read every post, I know you’ll feel part of the “People Business” again and not the “Paper Business”, a euphemism for the rat race most call a successful life. And you’ll know you’re home.

Why post on Mondays? Because Michael said the only cure for the Monday blues is “Varsity Blues” and I have never seen it.
